This clutch incorporates jali work. Jali is a perforated stone or latticed screen with an ornamental pattern constructed through the use of calligraphy and geometry. Early jali work was built by carving into stone, and the Mughals employed the technique in inlay, using marble and semi-precious stones.

Traditionally, poison rings were designed with a hollow container under or inside the bezel to hold poison or other substances.

This ring showcases a 42.65 carat center sapphire that opens to a shallow box filled with loose red spinels, in place of “poison pills”. Sapphire fish swim around the bezel.
